Oncology Nursing Society 37th Annual Congress

Last month, I attended my first ONS Annual Congress. The conference took place in New Orleans.  It was an opportunity to connect with a number of nursing staff from across the country while participating in a number of educational, professional and social activities.

The opening ceremonies were held in the Ernest N Morial Convention Center with keynote speaker Brenda Elsagher whose presentation was titled: Laughter With a Message: A Patient’s Perspective on Humor and Healing.

I then attended a number of sessions presented by nursing faculty and nursing staff from a variety of institutions.  The sessions were quite informative and educational.  Most of these presentations were either studies conducted on a variety of clinical topics or were presentations on nursing education. MSK nursing staff had one pre-Congress instructional session and six podium sessions

Among the plethora of educational activities, I also attended the research poster session where nursing staff had the opportunity to exhibit their posters.  The MSK nursing staff had 23 research posters.  Congratulations to all MSK nursing authors and presenters for their superb contributions to this year’s ONS Congress!

Below is a slideshow of some MSK nurses at their poster sessions (if the show does not play on your device you can visit the Flickr set here).
