New Surgery Title Edited by MSK Author

Master Techniques in Surgery: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, has recently been added to our eBook collection. Edited by MSK’s Dr. William R. Jarnagin, Chief of the Hepatopancreatobiliary Service, the title also features a number of other contributors from MSK. The title, which is part of the Master Techniques in Surgery series, depicts surgery of the liver, hepatobiliary tree, and pancreas, including cholecystectomy and hepatic resections.  It features both laparoscopic and open procedures and is illustrated with original full-color drawings. Chapters assess indications, contraindications, and preoperative planning before fully explaining and illustrating procedures in step-by-step detail.

Master Techniques in Surgery: Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery can be found in TriCat, the library catalog, or by searching MSK Search.

Improving Imaging of Cancerous Tissues by Reversing Time

Washington University researchers have developed a novel “time-reversal” technology that allows for better-focused light in tissue, such as muscles and organs. Phys.org summarizes the research published in Nature Photonics, that describes using a new technology called time-reversed adapted-perturbation (TRAP) optical focusing, which sends guiding light into tissue to seek movement. Check out this video which shows dynamic focusing onto a moving target inside scattering media.
