The MSK Library will be closed on Monday, January 16 in observance of Dr. MLK Jr. Day. We will re-open on January 17.
Posts are written by library staff and reflect their personal opinions not necessarily those of MSK.
If you’ve ever visited MSK Library during evening hours, you’ve probably met one of our graduate-student workers. Adia, Heather, Sabrina, and Trale are all pursuing master’s degrees in Library and Information Science while working part-time at MSK Library. Having moved to New York City from all over the country, these students balance their graduate studies with their jobs here at MSK.
Graduate-student assistants frequently scan articles and chapters from the Library’s print collection for users who request a digital copy.
Library and Information Science is a crossroads of many disciplines, including knowledge organization, information technology, education, and preservation. In the New York area, there are several universities that offer graduate programs in library science and related fields. At MSK Library, graduate-student workers contribute to daily operations and gain experience in a specialized medical research library environment. After graduating, the Library’s former student workers flourish as librarians in public, academic, and special libraries — some even continue in full-time positions at MSK! The Library wouldn’t be able to run without these employees, and their enthusiasm for librarianship uplifts the whole team. A heartfelt thank you to MSK Library’s graduate-student workers!
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued a new Data Management and Sharing Policy, effective January 25, 2023. This policy includes an expectation that researchers will maximize their data sharing activities, ensure they submit a Data Management Plan (DMP) at the time of grant submission, and deposit their data into a public repository. To support the implementation of this new policy, a resource guide has been developed to provide information and guidance for our researchers. Click the link below to go directly to the guide.
NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy LibGuide
Whether you are applying for a new grant or have a renewal deadline in your near future, this guide will help you navigate policy changes and requirements, as well as connect you with the right individuals or departments should you have specific questions. This guide has been customized for MSK staff and will be updated accordingly to ensure that researchers are provided with the latest information related to the policy.
If you have questions about the guide, or would like to request a presentation about the new policy, please contact Anthony Dellureficio, Associate Librarian, Data Management Services.
