The 2010 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) data have been released recently. JCR is an annual publication analyzing one year of citation data. It provides a variety of impact and influence metrics, including the Journal Impact Factor and Eigenfactor from the Thomson Reuters citation indexes. Continue reading →

MSK Archive Receives Digitization Grant Posted on MSK Archive Receives Digitization Grant Posted on July 21, 2025 by Robin O'Hanlon #MSKArchives #MSKHistory #ArchivesMatter #MedicalArchives #InstitutionalMemory #PreservingHistory #TheMSKWay The Archives at Memorial Sloan Kettering was awarded a METRO Digitization grant to reformat and make public MSK’s Annual Reports from 1884 to present. The Metropolitan New York Library Council is a group that supports libraries, museums, archives, and community organizations within New York City. METRO’s annual digitization project grant program provides funding to make vital content from cultural heritage institutions in New York available. By securing this grant, MSK joins the ranks of other medical archives in New York, including Mount Sinai Health System and Weill Cornell Medicine, in bringing parts of their collections online. The Archives collects materials documenting the history, accomplishments, and daily life at MSK. This includes photographs, Board minutes, research notes, and event materials, among other materials. The images in this post offer just a glimpse of the richness of these collections. Although the Archives has existed in some form since 1980, it has expanded in recent years due to the hiring of its first full-time Archivist in 2022. Through this grant and other work, the Archives hopes to increase access to certain materials for researchers in the history of medicine, genealogists, and others who are interested in the cultural value of MSK’s history. The Annual Reports provide information on annual statistics, major discoveries, donations, and stories of people touched by cancer. In addition to documenting medical history, these reports also document the growth of MSK across New York City and the metro areas, the development of new areas of practice, and our changing relationship to cancer and mortality. The collection is expected to be available in early 2026

With over 25 years of experience leading academic health sciences libraries, Stephanie brings a strong record of innovation, collaboration, and strategic vision to MSK. She joins us from Dartmouth College’s Geisel School of Medicine, where she served as Associate Dean for Health Sciences and Biomedical Libraries. Stephanie’s leadership journey includes key roles at Oregon Health & Science University, Tufts, and Northwestern. Her expertise in evidence-based practice, research support, and cutting-edge library services will be a tremendous asset to our community. Today MSK Library's Robin O’Hanlon presented to Today MSK Library's Robin O’Hanlon presented to high school students in MSK’s Bridge to Biostats and Summer Exposure Program on AI Literacy. These programs introduce NYC high school students from underrepresented backgrounds to careers in science, medicine, and research. Students explored how AI tools are shaping science, research, and healthcare and how to use them responsibly and effectively in their own learning. Inside the Library: Tech Tools & Training “Navi Inside the Library: Tech Tools & Training “Navigating AI Tools for Searching the Biomedical Literature” #MSKResearch #AIinScience #BiomedicalResearch #GenAI #ScientificTraining #AIethics #LiteratureSearch #MSKEducation #MedicalLibraryTraining Our librarians, Matsoukas, Konstantina (Dina), Research Informationist, III, and Robin O'Hanlon, Associate Librarian, User Services, led a class titled “Navigating AI Tools for Searching the Biomedical Literature,” in collaboration with MSK’s Office for Scientific Education and Training (OSET). The session was offered to MSK trainees and welcomed around 50 participants, including postdocs, PhD students, summer interns, senior research scientists, Engage Scholars, Research Scholars, and research technicians. The class explored the strengths and limitations of three widely used GenAI tools for biomedical literature, searching ChatGPT’s Deep Research, Elicit, and Consensus. We also encouraged participants to think critically about the ethical and privacy implications of using generative AI for background research. See some photos below from the session!

At the MSK Library, we are committed to fostering inclusion, ensuring equitable access to health information, and creating a welcoming space where all identities are seen and valued. In honor of Pride, we're proud to share a thoughtful reflection from one of our former colleagues, Antonio DeRosa, a true advocate for authenticity and community. Celebrating Pride: Antonio DeRosa, Associate Director, Patient & Community Education, Marketing and Communication “That’s the beauty of the rainbow, right? Up close, the colors might clash or seem mismatched, but when you take a step back, you see something vibrant and beautiful.” For Antonio DeRosa, this perspective isn’t just a metaphor for Pride Month - it’s a reflection of how he lives and works every day. “Each of us brings our own experience and identity,” he continues, “and that deserves to be accepted and celebrated.” Antonio’s career has been shaped by curiosity, purpose, and a deep commitment to health equity. Guided by a passion for empowering communities through education, he has built a distinctive path at the crossroads of healthcare communication, information access, and inclusion. With a BA in English from SUNY New Paltz and an MS in library and information science from Pratt Institute, Antonio joined MSK in 2010, contributing across the library, editorial services, and radiology teams. After a brief time at Weill Cornell, he earned his EdD in educational leadership in healthcare administration from Aspen University in 2021—further grounding his mission to make health information more accessible, meaningful, and impactful. He returned to MSK that same year, bringing fresh insight and a continued passion for patient-centered education. In his current role, Antonio leads the development of accessible, inclusive educational materials for patients, caregivers, and the broader community. Link in Bio for full article!
