Tech Zone: “First Aid” by American Red Cross

The American Red Cross has released a mobile app for use in emergencies. Available for iPhone and Android devices, “First Aid” provides expert advice and safety tips, as well as integration with 911 so that you can call EMS at any time. Highlights include:

  • Step-by-step instructions for everyday scenarios
  • Safety tips for preparation before natural disasters
  • Interactive quizzes for badges that you can share with friends
  • Videos and animations to make learning fun

The app consists of pre-loaded content so that you can access the information at any time. For more information, visit the American Red Cross.

Elsevier eJournals, Scopus, SciVal Scheduled Outage

Elsevier has announced that ScienceDirect, Scopus, Hub, Applications, SciVal, and Journals Consult are expected to be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance from 7:30AM Saturday, August 25th to 2:30AM on Sunday, August 26th, 2012. During this time, upgrades will be implemented and maintenance performed.
