October is National Medical Librarians Month! The MSK Library staff is committed to serving our community in any way that improves patient care or facilitates research goals and activities. Below is a list of things a MSK Librarian can do for you (some items may surprise you!):
- Provide access to a list of reputable and reliable online databases/websites and mobile apps/websites–we do the quality assurance review so you don’t have to!
- Offer a diverse set of training workshops ranging from PubMed and EndNote, to systematic reviews and tools for authors–did you know that customized individual or group/department-wide presentations can be requested? Just ask us!
- Retrieve articles and books that are not in the Library’s collection using the ILLiad Document Delivery Service–we can also get you patents, conference papers, and theses/dissertations.
- Show you ways of keeping current with the literature/news in your field and help to streamline email alerts and other RSS feeds–set up a consultation to learn how best to manage your news feeds and email alerts.
- Access your favorite or most important journal content on-the-go using the BrowZine app–our eJournal collection is fully integrated with the app so you can quickly download and save full text articles on your iOS, Android, or Kindle device at no fee!
- Provide direct access to our full text collection with the FullText@MSK buttons found in major databases like PubMed, Embase, Scopus, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and Google Scholar–follow this button whenever you see it in a database as it’s your best bet for getting to the PDF more quickly.
- Login to our website for remote access (upper right corner) to our electronic collection from anywhere–we know how important anywhere, anytime access is to our users.
- Developing LibGuides for our clients helps to alleviate some of the congestion on the main website by offering informational pages, custom departmental portals, and online tutorial pages–request a LibGuide on a topic or for your department today!
