The Library has recently added Implementing the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Competencies in Healthcare, co-authored by Bernadette Melnyk and published by @STTI to our catalog. This text was recommended by one of the Library’s Research Informationists, Marisol Hernandez as she recently attended a 5-day Evidence-based Practice Immersion Event with MSK Nursing Leadership. The program was taught by faculty of The Ohio State University’s Center for Transdisciplinary Evidence-based Practice (CTEP) where Bernadette Melnyk serves as dean.
Implementing the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Competencies in Healthcare serves as a guide for clinicians, leaders, faculty, EBP mentors, and students in achieving EBP competency and facilitating evidence-based decision making in daily practice. Further, it aims to accelerate the speed at which research knowledge is translated into real-world settings to improve health outcomes and decrease healthcare costs.
Featured chapters look at the Evidence-based Practice Competencies in relation to:
- clinical inquiry
- searching for best evidence
- critical appraisal
- implementation
- outcomes evaluation
- leading and sustaining evidence
- and disseminating evidence
Appendices include a PICOT worksheet, a completed General Appraisal Overview example, a Rapid Critical Appraisal Checklist and an evaluation table template.
Implementing the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Competencies in Healthcare may be found in Tri-Cat, our Library catalog.
