The MSK Library provides a wide variety of information and resource guides on health topics, including public health, infectious disease, with a focus on topical and high-interest and areas, such as COVID-19, measles, avian influenza, and climate change. These guides are designed for the general public.

Learn about infectious diseases, including the types and modes of transmission of communicable diseases, pathogens and their infections,  therapeutics, and infection control. There are also clinical resources on infectious diseases for both the public and clinicians. 

Respiratory Viruses

This guide provides information and resources on respiratory viruses, including influenza, RSV, and influenza-like illnesses, including seasonal surveillance and vaccines, as well as novel and pandemic influenza.

COVID-19

COVID-19

This guide was designed to provide up-to-date information on current local, state, national, and global trends in infections and wastewater surveillance, as well as circulating variants. It also provides information and resources on COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics, including clinical guidelines, as well as available resources. Due to the discontinuation of the public health emergency and current government cuts, much of the up-to-date information is not longer updated, and many resources have been removed.

COVID-19 Impacts

This guide provides information and resources on the long-term impacts of COVID-19 infection, as well as the monumental impacts the pandemic had and continues to have on the world. This guide focuses on information about "Long COVID" as well as evidence of the long-term health impacts.

SARS-CoV-2

Learn about SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 infections, including the origin and evolution of the virus. It also discusses the rise and lineages of the various variants, from the early days, to Omicron, and now the "variant soup" that has been circulating since 2022.

Avian Influenza

Avian Influenza

Learn about avian influenzas (and other animal influenzas), including subtypes and pathogenicity. The guide also provides updated information and resources on the current "bird flu" outbreak in poultry, wild birds, livestock, and mammals, as well as sporadic human infections.

Learn about the measles virus, the history of measles vaccination efforts and elimination. This guide also provides updated information on current measles outbreaks in the U.S. and around the world.

Public Health

Public Health

This guide provides vetted and curated resources and information on public health events, including disease surveillance, public health emergencies, emerging diseases and priority pathogens, and national and global disease outbreaks. The guide also discusses ongoing health crises, including HIV/AIDS and the opioid epidemic, as well as information on the state of health in the United States.

Climate Crisis

Learn about climate change, including the different national and global assessments, climate disasters, and the impacts of climate change on life on earth. Information is also provided on  climate mitigation efforts, sustainability, climate inequalities, and the dawn of a new geological epoch, the "Anthropocene".
