NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding, June 20-22

Registration is still open for NIH’s final 2012 Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration in Washington D.C. from June 20-22.  Thirty-five NIH and HHS staff are on hand to share information and educate attendees about the application and review process, as well as clarify and discuss federal regulations and special areas of concern. Additional networking opportunities are also available to those who attend, a group that includes “a mix of grants administrators, new and early stage investigators, researchers, graduate students, and anyone interested in the grants administration process”. MSKCC in the News: April 19 – May 2

  • MSKCC’s Dr. Peter Scardino comments on Warren Buffet’s decision to undergo radiation therapy for stage 1 prostate cancer.
  • Marlo Thomas in an article in the Huffington Post, asked some of the top cancer scientists, including MSKCC’s Dr. Charles Sawyers, what makes them optimistic about the ongoing battle with cancer.
  • On January 17, 2012, the Systems Biology Discussion Group gathered at the New York Academy of Sciences for the Single-Cell Level Systems Biology symposium. Grégoire Altan-Bonnet from MSKCC described new ways of using flow cytommetry, eg Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting (FACS), to characterize signal transduction pathways.
