A Sneak Peek at the MSKCC Library Site Redesign!
I am excited to be writing this month’s Director’s Reflection to share with our user community the forthcoming launch of the new and improved Library website. In fact, we wanted to present a sneak peek at the beta site before we switched over. As of today, Thursday, December 20, you’ll be able to view the beta site. We have also placed a link to this site from the Library’s homepage.
Everyone on staff has worked hard on this project and will continue to work hard in order to offer the best virtual entrance to the content and services we provide. Our goal was to deliver an aesthetically pleasing and easier to navigate site and based on preliminary feedback – we have definitely accomplished what we set out to do!
Video: Searching the CINAHL Database
Here is a brief video on how to search the CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) database via the EBSCOhost platform, using subject headings. Included are explanations of how to utilize the “major concept” option and how to view the scope note (usually a definition of the term), as well as the hierarchical display of the subject terms. Selecting subheadings to refine the search strategy is demonstrated and the ability to search by keywords in addition to subject headings is explained. The video is under 6 minutes long.
Update 10/2013: This video is no longer available. Please contact the Reference Team via asklibrarian@mskcc.org or 212.639.7439 for help with this resource.
