Do You Know… the secret life of paper?
Where does paper go when you recycle it? Why should you change your paper habits? What can you do to reduce your paper footprint?
To learn what MSKCC is doing to reduce our paper footprint, see the 2010 poster on “Promoting A Sustainable Culture at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center“.
In addition, the center has been honored with the 2011 “Partner for Change” Award from Practice Greenhealth, a national membership organization for healthcare facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations. Congrats, everyone!
Do You Know: Interactive Health Games
Medline Plus, the trusted source for consumer health information, provides links to more than 50 interactive health games. The games have been created by a variety of organizations, both governmental and non-profit. The intended audiences include both health care professionals and consumers, including children. For example, the Nobel Foundation provides games to test your knowledge of the immune system, electrocardiograms, or blood types, to name a few. Teens can play the “Bully Round-Up” from the CDC. There are several food safety games for children. Think you know your insects? Try the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology’s stinging insect matching game, and keep safe this summer.
