• A study about using Powerpoint in medical education to work with the way we learn has been written about by Dr. Shock and Michelle Lin at Academic Life in Emergency Medicine
• Google announced Google Scholar Citations, a tool to track your citation metrics

• ScienceRoll discusses the new online health community from the Mayo Clinic
• In one of a series of posts on healthcare innovation, Forbes’ David Shaywitz discussed UpToDate, asking “Why is Medicine’s Killer App an E-textbook?“

A few things that grabbed my attention online this week:

• An interesting study suggests how to get your tweets retweeted  via @DrShock
• The FDA commitee vote to withdraw approval for Avastin as a breast cancer treatment generated a lot of buzz. An excellent post,  Avastin: What Went Wrong by Jody Schoger sums up this complicated case and links to other great posts about it. NPR’s health blog Shots covers the legal precedents involved, saying the case Tests FDA’s Ability to Say No.
• And Google+ is also causing a stir…KevinMD thinks Google Circles May Be Why Physicians Will Embrace Google+, the NY Times tells What Google+ Is All About and CNN says Anyone Want a Google+ Invite? Sorry…
