Searching for Books and Book Chapters in PubMed

The PubMed database may be searched for online books, book chapters and documents from the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information) Bookshelf Collection.  This collection provides free access to publications in life sciences and healthcare.  To retrieve book titles, book chapters and documents related to disasters, for example, use the following strategy: (disaster OR disasters) AND (pmcbook OR pmcbooktitle OR pmcbookchapter).

MEDLINE Journals Arranged by Subject Categories

It is sometimes useful to have a list of MEDINE journal titles categorized by their subject areas.  The web page,  Broad Subject Terms for Indexed Journals, provides this information for 120 subject areas.  The page is under the auspices of the National Library of Medicine.  This document can be useful for conducting a PubMed search for articles on drowning, for example, where you want to limit the output only to Emergency Medicine journal titles.
