Tech Zone: Happtique’s Certification Program for Mobile Healthcare Apps

In case you haven’t heard, Happtique has been deemed the “first mobile app store developed by healthcare professionals for healthcare professionals.”  It uses clinicians to categorize health and medical apps (hApps) through medical library indexing – enabling the user to sort by disease, specialty and provider type, etc.
Earlier this year, Happtique announced that it will develop a certification program to evaluate and certify mobile healthcare apps based on criteria including functionality, usability and security. The program, expected to be available later this year, will not only approve applications that are ready for clinical use, but provide constructive feedback for the applications that need more work.
The Happtique App Certification Program Blue Ribbon Panel is currently looking for feedback on their review process and performance standards.    If you’re part of the mHealth community (healthcare professionals and organizations, developers, patients, caregivers, and “anyone else with good ideas”), send your comments to appcertification@happtique.com!
