For #MensHealthWeek: Ebooks Focusing on Men’s Health, Prevention, and Wellness

In support of Men’s Health week, the MSK Library is highlighting several ebooks in our collection on men’s health, focusing particularly on prevention and wellness:

Men’s Health: A Head to Toe Guide for Clinicians, edited by Jeannette M Potts, covers issues of men’s health, including screening, diagnosis and management of common disorders and opportunities for prevention and health maintenance.

Men’s Health in Primary Care, edited by Joel J Heidelbaugh, is the first book of its kind to present up-to-date information on all aspects of men’s health in the primary care setting. The book provides guidelines for performing evidence-based well male examinations on children, adolescents, and adults.

Urological Men’s Health: A Guide for Urologists and Primary Care Physicians, edited by Daniel A. Shoskes, Vinod H. Nargund, Derek Raghavan, and Howard M. Sandler, covers the major urologic conditions that have an impact on the health and well being of the adult male.

Cost-Effective Smartphone Multimodal Microscope

Researchers from Sweden and the United States have demonstrated how a smartphone-based microscope could deliver molecular diagnostic data directly to the healthcare provider, eliminating the need to send samples to outsourced laboratories — or, in the researchers’ words, take data “from the point of care to the point-of-expertise.”

To read more about their findings, published in Nature Communications, see Targeted DNA sequencing and in situ mutation analysis using mobile phone microscopy.
