In news from the blogs;

• There has been a lot going on at the Supreme Court –  human gene patents have been thrown out, but most attention seems to have been focused on the healthcare reform case. Here is the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein on three ways the court could rule against the mandate.
• Big news on big data—the NIH put the world’s largest set of data on human genetic variation, The 1000 Genomes Project, on Amazon’s cloud, and the White House announced a big data initiative (see the NY Times story).
