Resource Highlights: National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship

Survivorship, according to Merriam-Webster, is “the state of being a survivor.” Simple. Literal. Poignant. The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) is a resource that highlights inspiring cancer survivors, supports patients, and educates others on cancer survivorship.

Accessing the NCCS web site is easier than tagging on a .org to the whole title in your web browser. Canceradvocacy.org is all you need to remember in getting to this resource. Both a fitting URL and easy to retain, canceradvocacy.org pretty much says it all when describing the NCCS web site. This resource was created with the cancer patient, survivor, friend, and family member in mind. You can find information on cancer news as well as tool kits to guide patients on their cancer journey. Though this resource is geared toward consumers, there is a section for health care professionals. The coalition ultimately strives to effect cancer policy change at the national level, as their mission and vision suggests.

Survivor stories are also shared on this web site. While touching and inspiring, these survivors discuss their conditions both technically and emotionally. There is even a section where patients or survivors can share their cancer story with the NCCS community. For more MSK-specific cancer survivorship videos like the one above, visit the MSK YouTube Channel.
