September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month and the Foundation for Women’s Cancer is celebrating with a new interface as well as their 20th anniversary! Formerly the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, the Foundation for Women’s Cancer consists of four web sites that will soon be merged into one web address: foundationforwomenscancer.org. For now, this web address will bring you to the tentative homepage with information on the four web sites that comprise the foundation and information about the foundation’s mission. The four web sites are as follows:
(1) Women’s Cancer Network – This resource provides in-depth information on reproductive cancers, clinical trials, specialty oncologists, and survivorship.
(2) Gynecologic Cancer Foundation – The soon-to-be revamped web site for the Foundation for Women’s Cancer. Information can be found on gynecologic cancer and optimal treatment. The foundation was founded in 1991 by the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists (SGO)
(3) National Cervical Cancer Public Education Campaign – Unites national partners and citizens through pledges to eliminate cervical cancer. Emphasis is put on consumer- and lay person-based information on cervical cancer prevention.
(4) National Race to End Women’s Cancer – This year’s race will be held in Washington D.C. on Sunday, November 6, 2011. Teams are formed and donation goals are met to aid in the research, prevention, treatment, and cure of cancers unique to women.
