Resource Highlights: Practice Greenhealth

Looking for information on “going green” efforts in healthcare?  Practice Greenhealth has it all. This resource offers trusted information on sustainability efforts in regard to hospitals, healthcare systems, and medical institutions. Practice Greenhealth is not only a free-standing information source, it is also a fee-based membership and networking organization. Various institutions in the healthcare field make up this community of positive environmental stewardship.

Offering information in clean energy and reusable materials in the health facility, Practice Greenhealth has many forums to participate in and educational tools for any department. Things such as energy impact calculators, webinars, and eco-checklists are only a few tools found throughout this resource. Practice Greenhealth is also up to date on environmental sustainability news, including recent nationwide and global efforts. Perhaps one of the more useful aspects of this resource is the Regulations & Standards section. Listed here is information on suggested practices as well as state and federal regulations such as the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.

For more information on sustaining the environment and lowering your facility’s “carbon footprint” visit the MSK Library LibGuide, Greening the OR. This Guide contains information on both specific solutions (i.e. single-use device reprocessing) and broad efforts (i.e. other “green” organizations and web sites).
