Find Virtual Reference Sources with the Reference Resources LibGuide!

Ever wonder how your librarian knows the name of a website or seems to always have a recommended database for a very specific search topic? I’ll let you in on a little secret… we do not all have memories like a steel trap, we categorize resources into intuitive lists using LibGuides, or other tools, as support.

The Reference Resources LibGuide is the MSK Library’s way of helping to keep go-to resources at hand. You’ll notice that websites and databases are compartmentalized into broad tabs, and further subdivided into more targeted lists. We start with General Resources and Science Resources.

General Resources contains three deeper pages: Dictionaries, Directories, Encyclopedias; Abbreviations, Acronyms, Almanacs; and Grammar, Style Manuals, Information for Authors.

Science Resources contains four deeper pages: General Science; Epidemiology & Statistics; Government Health Agencies; and Translation Services.

There are other tabs on the LibGuide for various Library catalogs, virtual reference resources on the web, and a robust list of different search engines.

Our Database A-Z list also serves as a nice resource for finding databases to search when you can’t quite put your finger on a resource you once used.
