Resource Highlights: National Science Foundation

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is your portal for recent scientific discoveries, new research, scientific awards, statistics, funding opportunities and much more. One thing to note about the NSF is that it includes all fields of science. So, though it’s a useful resource for discovering research and  funding opportunities, it is not solely biomedical- or oncology-based. This independent federal agency was created in 1950 to support the advancement of all sciences and research fields. To date, it accounts for 20 percent of all federally funded basic research conducted by America’s colleges and universities.

The NSF also acts as a current awareness tool. Their RSS feed page allows you to track and receive alerts on news, publications, images, and funding for example. Just choose the feed you would like to monitor and add the URL to your favorite Reader. Not exactly sure what an RSS feed is? Click here for an explanation.
