Resource Highlights: Images LibGuide

Locating and citing images can sometimes be a daunting task on top of the intensity of researching a topic itself. To help with your image and citing style needs, the MSK Library has created the Images LibGuide with you in mind.

You will find this LibGuide contains information on copyright guidelines in relation to using and attributing images, sources and image databases themselves, and government and in-house (MSK) image resources. All the information is organized logically and placed under specific tabs. Within these tabs are boxes with links to resources. For example, if you are looking for no fee and royalty free images to use in a paper, you may want to check out either the other image sources or CDC and NIH government source pages.

Aside from image sources and general copyright information, the Guide also provides handy tools such as TinEye, Copyright Slider, and the Fair Use Evaluator. All these resources are meant to aid in the selection process of an image or figure. Both the Slider and Evaluator will help to clear up any copyright or allowable use questions pertaining to using a specific image. The TinEye tool allows for a reverse lookup of a given image. For instance, you can upload a picture or image that you do not have much information for and TinEye will do its best to retrieve all the information it can about the image supplied, including name, creator, dates, etc.
