Ever read a book based on a friend’s suggestion? How about seen a movie because your sibling raved about it? Well, now you can do the same with your research. Faculty of 1000 (F1000) is a database of articles that have been peer reviewed post-publication.Beginning with 1,000 international faculty members, F1000 now has over 10,000 experts from around the world evaluating the most important articles in biology and medical research publications. The database is arranged by Faculty, or subject, with over 300 subdivisions of these subjects in total. F1000 contains over 100,000 records to date, with an average 1,500 new evaluated articles published each month.
Searching F1000 is easy enough. Simply enter your search terms in the search box at the top of the home page, or browse evaluated articles by Faculty (subject). From here, you will be able to view how many times an article has been evaluated and by whom. A description of what the article is about, what area(s) it’s useful/helpful for, and a ranking are also provided. Each evaluated article is given a FFa ranking, or F1000 Article Factor. Each article is given either a 6 (Recommended), 8 (Must Read), or 10 (Exceptional).
