The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) has launched a new interface. We have blogged about this incredible resource in the past: you can read those posts here and here. At the MSK Library we are firm believers in Open Access and provide some useful information on our web site about the benefits and FAQs surrounding Open Access.
The DOAJ’s new look allows for more intuitive searching and browsing for its users. The DOAJ’s main aim in sprucing their functionality is simplicity. They are looking to create a platform where users with low bandwidth can take full advantage of open source material without the worry of heavy images and advanced plug-ins. The DOAJ contains journals in over 50 languages and 110 countries. There are over 500,000 searchable articles in the DOAJ database. An easy way to keep up with new additions to the DOAJ is to subscribe to either their 7-day RSS feed or 30-day RSS feed. These feeds are easily visible on the left-hand sidebar of the main page of the DOAJ site.
