Resource Highlights: Healthcare Innovations Exchange

There’s a database where you can search for innovations that eliminate disparities in cancer care among different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. A product of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the database is one of the resources of the Health Care Innovations Exchange. It can be searched by disease, stage of care, setting, and several other categories. Some of the innovations in the category of hematologic/oncologic care, for example, include cervical and breast cancer screening among ethnic minorities; improved chemotherapy dispensing processes; church-based cancer screening initiatives; integrated palliative care, and more.

The impact of innovative activities, their development and implementation are described in the database. Of course, not all innovations succeed, and those are described as well, which is useful when considering what to attempt.

The Health Care Innovations Exchange uses its own taxonomy and thesaurus, both of which enhance the retrieval of relevant innovations. You can also search the full-text of content if desired or browse the categories mentioned above.

AHRQ is a subdivision of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
