- The Economist featured a pair of studies published in Nature Genetics that highlights the impact that genomics has had on cancer research. One study, led by MSKCC’s Chris Sander and colleagues, provides a hierarchical classification of 3,299 tumors from 12 cancer types from the Pan-Cancer data set, using a newly developed algorithmic approach.

MSKCC in the News: September 5 – September 18
- In a recent editorial in Science Translational Medicine MSKCC’s Dr. Clifford A. Hudis discussed how the sequestration is negatively affecting the Food and Drug Administration and slowing the drug approval process.
- An open-label Phase I/IIa study at MSKCC showed that d-methadone was safe and well tolerated with 75% of the patients completing the study finding d-methadone to be moderately or very effective.
- The addition of surgical oncologist Sam Yoon, MD, and thoracic surgeon Robert Downey, MD, FACS at MSKCC’s outpatient treatment center in Basking Ridge now offers area residents the opportunity to make pre- and post-surgical appointments in a location closer to home.
