International Open Access (OA) Week starts today and ends on Friday, October 28, with events taking place all over the world to raise awareness of what open access means for research and researchers.
The MSKCC Library is committed to the principles of open access to scholarly peer-reviewed literature as a means to accelerate scientific discovery and improve patient care. This year, the MSKCC Library wants to bring attention to this initiative by sharing our Open Access LibGuide — highlighting resources and sites of interest.
In addition, Public Library of Science (PLOS), the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Institute (SPARC) and Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) have collaborated to create a guide entitled “HowOpenIsIt?” This document identifies the core components of OA in an easy to understand style and serves as an aid to help authors make informed decisions on where to publish.
