New Year, New Goals!

Happy New Year to our User Community, and our Library Blog readers!

I don’t have to gaze into a crystal ball to predict that 2017 is going to be another exciting year for library staff and our user community. The goals outlined for this year (and listed below) are just a part of the work we have planned.

GOAL 1 – Implementation of ALMA (Library Content Management tool)
The Tri-I Libraries (Memorial Sloan Kettering, The Rockefeller University, and Weill Cornell Medical College) will be implementing a new shared online catalog. The time has come to replace Tri-Cat. ALMA is a next-generation library management tool that will optimize the user’s research experience. Our target launch date is early January 2018. This is an exciting project that will bring together library staff from the three institutions, all with the same purpose – to deliver a resource that will be well used and appreciated by our user communities.

GOAL 2 – Synapse Enhancements (MSK Author Database)
We plan to continue to work on adding retrospective content to Synapse, as well as, monthly updates. In addition, we’ll be adding a new feature this year – the MSK 2016 Annual Publication report.  This report will provide a synthesis of the intellectual output of our authors over the past year, including citation analysis and metrics.

GOAL 3 – Develop and Launch a Library Metrics Dashboard
The dashboard will enable staff to monitor and share statistics in real time, showcasing the value and impact of library services.

GOAL 4Illiad Upgrade and Client Satisfaction Survey
Document Delivery Service (DDS) is important to our users that need content (journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations, and patents) that we don’t have immediately available in our library collection.  As we will be implementing a vendor upgrade later this year, we plan to also launch a user satisfaction survey that will help us confirm what works well and explore possible areas for improvement.

Besides our defined goals, we will continue to focus on the day-to-day management of the Library and our commitment to deliver excellent customer service. This we accomplish through the various services we offer in support of our users’ work productivity. For any questions regarding our services or to request a departmental presentation, don’t hesitate to ASK US!  We look forward to hearing from you.
