I just returned from attending the annual NEJM Library Advisory Board and wanted to showcase in this month’s Director’s Reflection, an awareness resource that I learned about that would be beneficial to many individuals at Memorial Sloan Kettering and beyond!
On December 10, 2015, the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) group announced the launch of a new resource that they hope will bring about a positive change for an audience that includes health care executives and senior managers, clinical leaders, physicians, residents, physician assistants, nurses, and all individuals interested in improving the value of health care delivery and patient care.
The goal of NEJM Catalyst is to provide information about practical innovations, insights from leaders and experts in the health care field, impartial and objective publications (articles), case studies, video talks, and events, that will encourage a forum for the exchange of ideas and perspectives from those involved in the health care community. This resource has been organized around key themes impacting health care today – patient engagement, care redesign, the new market place, and leadership. Leveraging a variety of communication channels, NEJM Catalyst will feature live-streamed web events, daily blogs, and an e-newsletter, all focused on delivering relevant information. There are three great ways to join, interact, and voice your opinion:
- Register for an event – Attend a dynamic live-streamed session where you can hear from renowned experts, advisors, and thought leaders. You can also review recorded versions of all sessions.
- Join the Insights Council – Qualified individuals can apply to be part of this group.
- Comment on blog posts or sign-up and receive the weekly e-newsletter – Be part of the NEJM Catalyst community by staying current, following topics, and sharing your opinions.
Before I end this post, I would like to mention an editorial written by Thomas H. Lee, Chief Medical Officer, Press Ganey Associates, and founding advisor for this resource. Dr. Lee, along with several colleagues, put into perspective their vision and hopes for NEJM Catalyst. Please consider this your invitation to participate, or at the very least, to explore this new resource.
