In early September, the MSKCC Library implemented a NEW Open URL link resolver (360 Link) to enhance access to our ebooks as well as our ejournal collection. Staff worked hard to ensure that our users would be minimally impacted by this change. This technology supports the desire of our Library user community to access full text journal articles quickly — in as few clicks as possible.
What users see is this graphic whenever they search a database (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, etc…) and view their search results. Clicking on this button directs the user to the full text article or the option to order the article via our Document Delivery Services.
So why am I sharing this information with you? Mentioning our Fulltext@MSK button? Recently, one of our users commented that as a PubMed user he finds most of the information he needs and gets to the full text for many of the citations he finds. What he didn’t realize is that the Library makes this happen. And we will continue to make this happen!
By sharing this story, I also hope that if any of our Library users have a problem accessing a full text article or want to learn more about our link resolver — they should contact us. This tool helps to provide an alternate access point to the Library’s electronic collection and enhances the users’ experience by directing them to full text content quickly.
