Frequently Asked Questions - ILLiad
Since we try to fill requests as quickly as possible your article may come from a number of possible sources.  It may be a scan from a print journal, a PubMed Central Author's Manuscript, a print-to-pdf from a website, or a publisher's pdf.  There are several factors that come into play including copyright restrictions and the time frame within which you need the article.  If you have a valid buisness reason for requiring the publisher's pdf of your article, please contact the Document Delivery Team at 212.639.7441 or ill[at]mskcc.org.

Your ILLiad account will remain active as long as you are an active employee at MSK.  Once your employment has ended, your account will no longer be accessable.  There may be a brief interuption of service for title or name changes.  If you are having trouble logging into ILLiad, please contact the Document Delivery team at ill[at]mskcc.org or call us at 212.639.7441.

All MSK employees can use ILLiad to request articles, scans and other digital documents.  However, book loans must be picked up at the Library.

A status of "Request Sent" means that we have sent a request for this item to our lending library network because it is not in our collection, and we are still waiting to receive it. You will receive an email notification when the PDF is available for download from your ILLiad account.

Every time you use Document Delivery Services, the following options are available to you:
  • Ability to check the status of your requests.
  • Download full text of each item you requested in the past 30 days.
  • Edit your personal information at any time. Simply log into the ILLiad Document Delivery page and click on "change User Information".

The Library's policy is to respect the proprietary rights of the copyright owners. Library staff adhere to the copyright law when borrowing or copying material on behalf of our users. The following copyright notice appears on the Library's User Registration form:
COPYRIGHT NOTICEThe copy law of the U.S. (Title 17 U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law. By using Electronic Document Delivery service you expressly agree to comply with Copyright Law.
Copyright also impacts the use of electronic resources. Databases, eJournals, and eBooks are subject to all terms and conditions of their license agreements and copyright provisions.

Your document is available from your ILLiad account for 30 days before being deleted automatically. Please save files to your workspace.

When your document has been obtained, you will receive an email message notifying you that your document is available. You must log in to your account to download your document. Please save the files to your workspace as they will only be available in your account for a limited time. If you requested a book, you will receive an email when it is ready for pick-up at the Library.

You can log in to the site with your MSK username and employee ID number. You will be prompted to provide additional information for your user account upon your first login. The Document Delivery Service is available to employees of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with valid MSK email addresses only.

Frequently Asked Questions - ILLiad
Document Delivery Services staff provide electronic delivery of articles and book chapters held by other libraries and in the print collections of MSKCC Library. Requests for entire books not held by MSKCC may also be obtained through Interlibrary Loan, and may be submitted using ILLiad. We encourage users to check our growing electronic resources prior to requesting items.

Document Delivery Services are available to Memorial Sloan Kettering students and staff in support of their work. Patients, family members, and caregivers can contact the library for information about obtaining journal articles.

Yes. To cancel or edit a request, login to ILLiad and select the request you would like to edit. Select "Edit Request", make the necessary changes and click "Submit Request".
