Pediatric Prom, Research Collaboration and More…

  • Every Spring is Prom time for many teenagers. The MSK 2015 Pediatric Spring Annual Prom was held Thursday, May 28, with donated dresses and tuxedos, prizes, and make-up. ABC WHAS11 News reported on this year’s event.
  • A May 29 online article in Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News, discusses a research collaboration between MSKCC and Peregrine Pharmaceuticals that will investigate cancer treatments that combine phosphatidylserine (PS)-targeting agents with other “checkpoint inhibitors or immune stimulating agents”.
  •  Per a May 30 Forbes article, rock musician and member of The Who, Roger Daltrey, recently visited MSK to check on the progress of a teen cancer center being developed at MSK. The Who is expected to visit in October for the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the teen cancer center.
  •  MSK’s Physician-in-Chief and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. José Baselga, and oncologist Dr. David Hyman, are featured in a June 1 Washington Post article. The article discusses the National Cancer Institute’s recent announcement that it will start a ”nationwide trial to test treatments based on the genetic mutations in patients’ tumors, rather than on where the tumors occur in the body”.
