Resources to Help You Search PubMed Effectively
PubMed
is the National Library of Medicine’s search service providing access to over 15 million citations in MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, new records from journal publishers, and other related databases, with links to full text articles where applicable. Click on the
Fulltext@MSK button for a menu of options specific to the PubMed citation in your search results. Options include accessing the full text article immediately or submitting a
Document Delivery request to have the full text article sent to you. The
Fulltext@MSK button can also be found in other bibliographic databases available from the MSKCC Library Web site.
This is just one search tip to remember when using PubMed. It is also very easy to put words or phrases in the
PubMed search box and retrieve some citations related to your topic. However, there are features in PubMed and techniques you can use to search more effectively. Effective searching can mean that you save time and retrieve more relevant and focused search results.
To view training resources on how to search PubMed, click on the link in the left hand navigation bar entitled
Training & Tutorials, and select the letter

In addition, you can complete the
Class Registration form and sign up for Searching PubMed. This class is scheduled on a regular basis and is recommended for those who are already familiar with PubMed. If you have just started to use PubMed, contact
Reference Services to arrange a one-on-one training session.
